My name is Todd Long and I am from Gladewater, Texas, a small town located in the northeast area of the state. Like many local kids, I grew up fishing. We spent weekends and summers on area lakes, rivers and ponds. Some of my favorites include Lake Gladewater, Devernia, Hawkins, Cherokee, Caddo, Lake O' the Pines, Nacogdoches, Toledo Bend, Sam Rayborn, Tawakoni, Monticello, Martin Creek, Pirky, Fork, Glade Creek, Sabine River and around Galveston Island. I've always enjoyed fishing topwater lures, especially Heddon chuggers and chugger Jr's. During the early 1990's after school I managed a tackle shop where I regularly came across old lures and swapped stories with local anglers. Chuggers were becoming more and more difficult to find, so I started saving what I found for a future collection. During the spring/summer of 2008 I again managed a tackle shop & marina in Galveston. While there, I had the opportunity to work with saltwater anglers, tackle dealers and others until we were displaced by huricane "Ike." Since then, we've relocated to another area in Texas where I enforce fish and game rules and regulations. I am a member of the National Fishing Lure Collector's Club (NFLCC) and over the years I've met and traded with numerous collectors. Ed and Toni Moore of Shreveport, LA were the first ones who really help me grow my chugger collection and introduce me to other collectors and the NFLCC. Its been fun trading with dozens of local as well as international collectors who continue to teach me more about this hobby every day. |
